About Me

So you what to actually want to know a bit about little old me?

... you do realise that means you either:
  1. Don't know me at all
  2. Are mildly insane (not that you would be alone in that repect)
  3. Are my stalker
  4. Are planning something and need either background information or some sort of cover story
*backs off slowly just incase*

Actually, I think I might just give you the benefit of the doubt and go with option 1

Well, I live in Lincoln but I was born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland (hence the rather unimaginative nick name that I now have). I started my time in scouting at the tender age of 8 when I started cubs at the 88th Glasgow, which met in my local church, although sadly the group is no more. When I went to scouts I transfered to the 29th Glasgow, going through all its sections before becoming an Assistant Cub Scout Leader for them for about 4 years or so.

By this point I finished University and was on the hunt for a job, and I managed to find one... but it was in Lincoln (which is about 300miles away from Glasgow). So I uped sticks and moved, they were paying me after all!

I moved around a couple of groups in Lincoln when I first arrived to find one that I liked, before settling down at the 9th Lincoln. It wasn't as big a group as I was in before, or if I am honest as slick, but the people were really nice and I saw potential in the group. It wasn't long after I started helping out with the Cubs that I was invited to 'visit' the Scouts, ie. they needed leaders more than the cubs did. Which is why I changed to work with the Scout section rather than the Cubs.

A couple of years down the line, I became an Assistant Unit Leader for the Lincolnshire Unit for the World Scout Jamboree in Sweden... and I just loved working with the Explorers. Something about being able to slag them off (for want of a better word) and them being able to slag you back. I don't know, it just seams more... sporting. So after a lot of soul searching, I decided to make the change to explorers and have now become an Assistant Explorer Scout Leader for the Sleaford Dodgers Explorer Unit.

That will most likely be the backbone of this blog, but there is more to it than that. For a while anyway I was in the City of Lincoln District Network (until I turned 25 and became too old anyway). I've also done a load of international trips and experiences, past ones I will try to fill in when I have a spare moment or a quiet week... future ones hopefully to be filled out while I am on it (if not shortly after)!

I hope you enjoy my blog!
